Valley County Airport Manager
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour based on qualifications/experience
The airport manager is responsible for safe and efficient operation of the Wokal Field – Glasgow/Valley County Airport in accordance with policies established by the Valley County Commissioners and the Valley County Airport Commission.
The airport manager is tasked with the planning, development, operation and maintenance of the airport and the county owned fixed base operator (FBO).
Duties:
Oversees the management, training, and development of the airport staff.
Directs and participates in airport snow removal activities, including the operation and maintenance of all equipment. Ensuring accurate NOTAM reporting.
Work directly with the county commissioners, airport commission, airport consultants & engineers as well as the Federal Aviation Administration and contractors for airport improvement projects and grant applications.
Work with airline employees, TSA screening contractors and airport tenants.
Manages leases for hangars, offices, hangar sites, and agricultural land use.
Fueling, towing, de-icing aircraft.
Operates and maintains the airport owned fuel facilities. Both above and underground fuel farms, self-serve system and aircraft refueler trucks.
Maintains all airport facilities, terminal building, hangars, garages, and storage buildings.
Acts as airport security coordinator and maintains the airport security program in compliance with the Transportation Security Administration.
Prepare the annual airport budget.
Represents the airport and maintains a working relationship with state and federal officials, advisory groups, airline, TSA screening contractors, airport tenants, and the community.
Participates in additional county committees, such as the county safety committee and the Local Emergency Planning Committee.
Occasional travel to meetings and conferences.
Desired Qualifications:
Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations affecting airport operations.
Previous airport or aviation experience.
Previous supervisory and training experience.
Strong customer service skills.
Budget preparation and administration.

About the airport:
Wokal Field is a former Army Airfield that opened in the 1940s for the training of B-17 bomber crews. Today the airport serves as a vital connection for people travelling to or from northeast Montana. The airport has two daily scheduled round trip airline flights, with Cape Air, as part of the essential air service program. Northeast Montana Stat Air Ambulance is also based at the airport with three Pilatus PC-12 aircraft to provide medevac services to all of eastern Montana. Wokal Field features two 5,000’ runways, instrument approaches, full and self-serve fuel options, and 23 airport owned hangars.

Job Opening – Airport Operations
Valley County Airport
Full Time - $19.00 per hour with benefits.
Shift varies: Mornings, afternoon/evening, weekends, holidays, overnight on-call.
Morning shift is 6:00 AM - 2:30
Afternoon/Evening Shift: 11:30 AM - 8:00 PM
On Call 7-10 nights per month.
Airport operations responsibilities include:
Customer Service: Working directly with pilots, passengers, various government agencies and contractors.
Servicing aircraft with fuel, oil, oxygen, and de-icing. Towing, parking, and marshalling aircraft.
Working in all weather conditions to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the airport.
Snow removal and lawn care with both heavy equipment and manual tools. Monitor airport conditions and respond to emergency situations. Perform maintenance on vehicles, buildings and grounds and janitorial cleaning. Additional duties as assigned by the department head.
Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check to work with commercial passenger aircraft.
